‘It’s killing off the Inteprovincial series’ Harte

The International Rules team are currently in Austrlia preparing for the second test

Mickey Harte has emphasised his belief that the International Rules series doesn’t benefit the GAA.

At a recent event in Dublin, for the Tyrone Association Night of Honour, Harte told those in attendance of his concerns about these clashes with these biennial games against the Australian select team.

“The acid test of this is if the AFL (International Rules) was playing in the south of England or Scotland would we have this big series going on?

“I doubt it, I think it is more about the sunny shores of Australia than it is about the development of Gaelic Games, and at the same time we’re killing off the Interprovincial series.”

Read the full interview in Gaelic Life, in which Harte also talks about the new players to be included in the 2018 panel, Colm Cavanagh’s Allstar, and the 2017 season.
