Earlier in the evening at the Dub, QUB hit six goals in a comfortable win over Louth.
The competition, now in its fourth year, has seven teams involved this season.
Derry had initially entered, but have since withdrawn. The Oakleafers – who have Dominic McKinley and Cormac Donnelly back in charge – won’t have access to their Sleacht Néill or Banagher players while their club championship campaigns continue.
Each team will play three games in their section, and the team who finishes top of each section will progress to the final to be played on Wednesday 19th January.
