FORMER Down attacker Danny Hughes has called on the Mourne county to use their last three league games to establish a clearly defined style of play that they can carry into the championship season.
While the points are crucial in Saturday’s trip to Cavan given that they are flirting with relegation, Hughes said that he would also like to see a clearer game-plan in place having been left confused by their performances to date in Division Two.
“I’m sure some players have their own ideas on how they’d like to play, individually and collectively, but we don’t know how management want them to play.
“Sometimes it seems like they make it up as they go along and other times it looks like they have their tactics spot on.
“Do they push up? Do they sit back? Are they good at counter-attacking? At times they are all of that and at other times they are none of those.
“There doesn’t seem to be a clear tactic whereas when you watch Galway, albeit on TV, you can see what Paddy Tally is doing with them. I’m a big supporter of Paddy Tally.”
