Grimley backing another Armagh upset

Paul Grimley steered Armagh to their last All-Ireland quarter-final appearance in 2014

FORMER Armagh manager Paul Grimley has backed the Orchard county to continue their run of upsetting the odds.

Kieran McGeeney’s side have overcome the underdogs’ tag in their Qualifier wins over Tipperary and Kildare – but Saturday’s All-Ireland quarter-final with Tyrone will be their biggest challenge yet.

Grimley, who guided the county to the last eight in 2014, believes that they have the ability to cause another shock and feels it’s a game Tyrone may have wanted to avoid.

“The bookies have their own system of pricing, but for me it’s irrelevant,” said Grimley.

“This is a game I feel Tyrone will not relish, it’s a totally different tactical battle to the ones they have had so far and it’s one that the Armagh boys will be climbing over a mountain to get at.

“I have to be very honest, I always think that the better the team we face, the better we play.

“Kildare are a very good side, make no mistake about that, it was a very big win.”
