Gowna to get chance to measure improvement

GOWNA

Manager:

Gerry Cadden (manager), Damien Fitzpatrick, Fergal Hartin and Seamus McCabe (selectors).

Championship programme:

League stage round one:

Gowna v Ramor United, July 31

Team news:

The Madden contingent in Gowna will increase this year as Niall has been talked into a return. He will provide plenty of experience for this improving side that could make a big mark in 2020. An opening round championship fixture against Ramor United is an exciting first game and manager Gerry Cadden will be hoping that his attack can click with Oisin Pierson, Conor Madden and Cian Madden giving them plenty of options up front. That was evident last Sunday as they hit 7-7 in their three-point Division One win over Lacken. Conor Madden grabbed a hat-trick, Oisin Pierson found the net twice while Cian Madden and TJ Fitzpatrick were also on target. “It’s been a terrible year for everyone given what has gone on so it will be good to get back,” said Cadden. They hit 10 goals in the group stages last season so it a surprise to see them only chalk up seven points in their quarter-final loss to Ramor. They will get a chance to measure their improvement in the very near future.
