Last year in Division two, Down were one of the teams fancied to end up in a relegation battle.
They were 11/4 to drop down to division three, but they managed to beat the odds and gain promotion to division one.
They did so with a good mix of defence and attack.
Two players, Donal O’Hare and Paul Devlin were so good that their scores earned them spots on the GL NFL Allstar team.
Division one is going to be battle though, and they are again fancied to be relegated.
But they have a few players who should still score well in fantasy football:
Ryan Johnston (Half forward): He was limited in last year’s championship, scoring just two points, but Johnston could be the star of Down’s attack this year. He hit 1-2 from the bench for St Mary’s in their win over Donegal.
Darragh O Hanlon (half back): a defender that scores points is what every fantasy manager is looking for, and O Hanlon is that very thing. He scored just seven points in the championship but he can increase that.
Donal O’Hare (full forward): He was one of the top scoring forwards in the NFL competition in 2015 and he can do so again this year.
Caolan Mooney (half forward): Has matured in the past couple of years, and is more astute in how he approaches the game. That should lead to more scoring opportunities.
