ULSTER CLUB IHC FINAL
Liatroim 2-20 Middletown 0-20
LIATROIM created history this afternoon as they landed their first ever Ulster title, seeing off Middletown with six points to spare.
Goals either side of the half time break from Conor McCrickard and PJ Davidson gave Colm Murphy’s side the upper hand.
The teams were evenly matched early on before McCrickard’s three-pointer opened up some daylight between the sides.
Dean Gaffney had the chance to narrow the gap from the penalty spot, but a superb save from Miceal McCartan saw Liatroim ahead 1-11 to 0-9 at the interval.
Liatroim made a perfect start to the second period, with Davidson netting inside the first ninety seconds.
Middletown kept fighting, with Dean Gaffney’s accuracy in front of the posts keeping them in contention.
But the Armagh side couldn’t find the goal that would really spark them into life, thanks mostly to the heroic defending of Ruairi McCrickard.
