Down set for September 20 SFC final

DOWN GAA have pencilled in September 20 as the date that they would like to hold their Senior Football Championship final, Gaelic Life understands.

The competition will mirror the current system with the first round of matches due to take place between August 13 and 17.

A reduced league system will be in place with divisions split in two with no relegation or promotion taking place.

As a result, one relegation place has been added to the Senior and Intermediate Football Championships. The Qualifier system will remain in place and relegation will be decided via play-offs between those who lose both matches.

The Intermediate final is scheduled for September 20 also with the Junior final place two days earlier. A new Qualifier system has been added to the Junior Championship having previously been straight knockout.

The Senior Hurling Championship will again use a round-robin format with the top two teams progressing to a final. All teams will play each other home and away with the final scheduled for September 19.

The Intermediate and Junior Hurling Championships will not start until October 11.
