The Donegal senior footballers continued their preparation for the recommencement of the Intercounty season with a challenge game against Mayo on Saturday in Sligo.
Oisin Gallen scored 1-3 and Donegal were three points up at the break, but Mayo dominated the second half before running out 1-19 to 2-11 winners.
Donegal were without their Kilcar and Naomh Conaill contingent as they had been preparing for the Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure Senior Football Championship Final. However, with all club activity now suspended, Bonner will have his full squad at training from this week on.
Mayo concluded their Club Championships a fortnight ago and fielded a strong side.
Donegal play Tyrone in the National Football League on October 18, before concluding the NFL campaign against Kerry six days later in Tralee.
Declan Bonner’s team will then entertain Tyrone in the Ulster Senior Football Championship on Sunday, November 1.
