Bogue: McGuinness behaved childishly over Cassidy

THIS Is Our Year author Declan Bogue has said that Jim McGuinness’s decision to ask Kevin Cassidy to rejoin the Tir Chonaill panel in 2012 was a sign that the manager knew he had acted incorrectly.

In a special feature in Gaelic Life speaking about the 10-year anniversary of hatching the idea to pen the book, Bogue discusses the dramatic fall-out from his book.

Cassidy, one of 10 participants in the book, was axed from the panel while Bogue was also asked to leave the All-Ireland final press conference after Donegal had defeated Mayo.

The writer, however, felt that too many people ignored what really happened.

“If it was that ballsy then why go up to Kevin’s school at Easter and ask Kevin to rejoin the panel? The truth of the matter is, and Jim has never acknowledged this, he behaved childishly.”
