Derrygonnelly boss relieved after difficult win

DERRYGONNELLY’S Mick Glynn was relieved his side achieved what they set out to do after they secured the Division One title.

“We are pleased to win the league and we know how competitive the competition is.

“On the day, any team in this division can beat anyone and we seen out there today, if you are not on your game then anyone can take you down on any day at all.”

The Galway native continued, “We wanted to win the silverware and thankfully today that’s what we done. It wasn’t pretty and the weather didn’t make it easy either but thankfully we came out the right side of the result tonight.”

Derrygonnelly ran out comfortable winners in the end but Glynn paid trubute to the Gaels side.

“We knew today would not be easy, they (Enniskillen) are a hugely talented side and have so many exciting players.

“They were a tough nut to break down. We all know about the likes of Jones, Horan, Beacom and Love etc. but at the end of the day it’s about getting the match ups right on the day.”

Derrygonnelly now meet Ederney in the Senior Championship while Enniskillen face Tempo. Glynn warns it won’t be simple for the Harps.

“Ederney have showed us last season that they are a quality side on the day and we all know how good they can be. We know of their quality and we know that they are a quality side.”
