McFaul helps Donegal to victory on US return

By Michael McMullan

CIARAN McFaul had a winning return with Donegal Boston in Sunday’s 1-16 to 1-9 win over Connemara Gaels.

As reported on Thar an Trásnan, Boston’s GAA website, McFaul was among the scorers in an attack that included former Dublin star Paul Mannion.

The Gaels team included James Garrity who made the move from Trillick.

McFaul will be joined by Glen team mate Jack Doherty who has also signed for Donegal.

The pair, who stepped away from the Derry senior panel earlier this season, will bolster Donegal club’s title bid.

Kieran Tobin, who played for St Eunan’s against Glen in the Ulster Club series, was also in action yesterday with with Drumsurn’s Ruairi Rafferty on target for Donegal juniors.

McFaul and another Dub, Diarmuid Connolly, played on Donegal’s winning team of 2018.

With counties exiting the Championship, American clubs have been busy snapping up players for the business end of their season.

The Parnell’s club in Chicago have been assembling a star-studded side. Tyrone duo Michael McKernan and Conor Meyler have made the move this week.

They will be joined by Kilcoo trio Ryan Johnston, Dylan Ward and Ceilum Doherty, with Down’s Barry O’Hagan their latest signing.

The Magpies’ had previously enjoyed a team holiday in New York after winning the All-Ireland Club, with the three players staying on for the summer.

Kilcoo begin their Down Championship against Clonduff later in the season, the only team to have beaten them in the League to date.
