Ulster players shortlisted for camogie awards

DERRY All-Ireland winning camogie duo Áine McAllister and Aoife Ní Chaiside have both been shortlisted for intermediate player of the year.

The joint captains led by example in a season that saw the Oakleaf County end the famine since their 2012 success. Ní Chaiside picked up her second All-Ireland medal with Derry after playing at full-back on the 2012 winning team.

Aoife Minogue, from beaten finalists Meath, make up the trio and the winner will be selected at the All-Star awards night on Saturday, November 4 at Croke Park.

It follows on from Ulster ladies’ footballers being selected on the various teams of the year.

All-Ireland Junior champions Down were represented by Amy McGivern, Orla Boyle, Meghan Doherty, Aoife Laverty, Natasha Ferris and Laoise Duffy on the Junior selection.

Also named were Fermanagh duo Molly McGloin and Bláithín Bogue.

Antrim trio Sarah O’Neill, Lara Dahunsi and Orlaith Prenter were named on the Intermediate team of the championship.

There are six players nominated for the Ladies All-Star team. Donegal’s Amy Boyle-Carr, Niamh McLaughlin and Niamh Hegarty are joined by three Armagh players.

Clodagh McCambridge, Lauren McConville and Aoife McCoy have been named.

The winners will be announced at the All-Star night in Dublin’s Bonnington Hotel on Saturday, November 18.
