Derry SFC: Magherafelt hold on for first county title 1978

Magherafelt have claimed their first Derry Senior Football title since 1978 beating Glen by the narrowest of margins.

Glen held the ball for the opening three minutes of the game before Danny Tallon opened the scoring.

Magherafelt would rally through five scores from Shane Heavron to lead 0-9 to 0-5 at the break after playing with the advantage of the win.

In the second stanza, Tallon once again opened his team’s account before Callum Mullan-Young denied Shane Heavron from the penalty spot.

Glen attempted a rally before Magherafelt held on for a famous victory.
