Crossmaglen remain the team to beat

CROSSMAGLEN

Management:

Stephen Kernan (manager), Jim McConville and Francis Fitzpatrick (coaches).

Championship programme:

Armagh SFC round one
Crossmaglen v Silverbridge, August 9

Team news:

Eyebrows were raised last weekend as Crossmaglen suffered a hammering at home to Ballymacnab and conceded seven goals in the process. The majority of their county players started, but they were still missing key men like Aaron Kernan, team captain James Morgan, Tony Kernan Cian McConville and Kyle Carragher. New manager Stephen Kernan will be concerned but is unlikely to be too worried. The likes of Paul McKeown, Johnny Hanratty and Stephen Finnegan are no longer there, so he has been blooding young players to try and discover some talent. Tony Kernan is back fit after two injury disrupted seasons in 2018 and 2019, which included a broken leg and a dislocated ankle. Remain the team to beat and given that their path to the semi-final includes a match with Silverbridge and then a game with the winners of Mullaghbawn and Annaghmore, it’s almost certain that they will ease to the last four. Then we will see if last week was just one of those weird results.
