County teams set for January training ban

INTER-COUNTY teams will not be allowed to train collective in January, at the minimum, following the latest update from the GAA.

Counties were originally expected to return on January 15, but due to rising Covid-19 cases on both sides of the border, that date has been pushed back and it could have consequences for the 2021 calendar.

The National Leagues are due to begin on the weekend of February 27/28, but as that would leave only a few weeks’ preparation time, that start date would need to be reassessed.

In a letter, counties were also sternly warned about breaking the date.
