FORMER Fermanagh defender Raymond Johnston has been appointed as the new manager of Cavan Intermediate side Belturbet.
Johnston has decided to move straight back into management after recently stepping aside as Fermanagh u-17s joint-manager, whom he led to a deserved victory over Down in this year’s Ulster Minor Championship.
He led the team with Tony Collins, and they collectively announced their resignation as Fermanagh minor managers back in August, citing personal reasons.
Johnston has accrued a lot of coaching and managerial experience at this stage, serving under Pete McGrath for a period when the Down manager was in charge of Fermanagh’s senior intercounty football team.
Collins, meanwhile, has also headed straight back into the thick of things having been enlisted by Teemore manager Barry Owens.
