FORMER Cavan star Seanie Johnston looks set for a shock return to the playing field with his club Cavan Gaels.
Johnston is currently a member of Mickey Graham’s Cavan management team as a forwards coach but could line out at club level this season.
The 14-time championship winners are under new management, with Breffni legend Jason O’Reilly returning to the hotseat for a second term.
Johnston won 10 county titles during his career, the most recent coming in 2017 during O’Reilly’s first stint in charge.
They achieved the league and championship double that season and reached the Ulster club final only to lose to Derry powerhouse Sleacht Néill
Johnston himself enjoyed two stints playing with Cavan, split by his controversial transfer move to Kildare in 2012.
The accurate sharpshooter will be a welcome addition to the Cavan Gaels squad and his experience within the changing room could be vital this season.
