Conor Moynagh is relishing the chance of playing Kerry in Breffni Park

CONOR Moynagh is hopeful that Cavan have turned a corner after their unexpected yet wholly deserved victory over Mayo on Sunday.

Their survival campaign has earned a major shot in the arm as a result and one win from their final two games – against Kerry and Roscommon – could well be enough to salvage their Division One status.

Moynagh says the team were acutely aware that they were in the last-chance saloon against Mayo and is looking forward to welcoming the Kingdom to Breffni Park this Sunday.

“Mattie [McGleenan] is usually so positive but it was very much a time where we thought if we don’t wake up against Mayo we’re relegated.

“We’re on the back of a morale-boosting win and we have Kerry in Breffni Park. There are probably easier games to play but it’s nice that we’re going in with a fighting chance.”
