Jamie Clarke: Semi-professional conversation should begin

ARMAGH star Jamie Clarke has said that it’s time for the conversation about semi-professionalism in the GAA to properly begin.

In a wide-ranging interview, Clarke said that although it’s not something that will happen in his playing days, he is keen to see the possibility explored.

“I think it’s eventually going to go that way, it’s just a matter of time. I know a lot of people are against it for the culture and the history of the game and what it represents, and I love that aspect of it, but I think that’s not necessarily taking in the players’ view in terms of the time given to it.

“A lot of players are choosing a certain career path to allow them to perform on the pitch.”
