Jamie Clarke: McGeeney can take Armagh to the next level

JAMIE Clarke has said that Armagh are in the perfect position to move to the next level under manager Kieran McGeeney.

In a wide-ranging interview to appear in Thursday’s Gaelic Life, in which Clarke discusses football, fashion and his maturing outlook on football, the player said that McGeeney and his coaching team have the squad in an excellent place.

“You can always feel the atmosphere when things aren’t going well (at the Athletic Grounds). I thought there was a lot of that going on for years. You do start to question yourself, what can I do better here? What can I do to help the situation? It was difficult but you can see how it has totally changed.

“You have the older boys pushing it on, the Aidan Forkers, the Rory Grugans, the Stephen Sheridans, and then Kieran (McGeeney), Jim (McCorry), Paddy ‘Wac’ (McKeever) and those coaches have taken it to the level we needed to get to.”
