KIERAN McGeeney will manage the Armagh senior intercounty footballers until at least the end of the 2023 after he was handed a one-year extension to his contract this evening.
It will be McGeeney’s ninth year in charge of the team (he was appointed in late 2014) and the news will come as no major surprise after the progress made this season.
The Orchard County maintained their Division One status and embarked on a memorable run to the All-Ireland quarter-finals after suffering a limp exit to Donegal in the first round of the Ulster Championship.
They overcame reigning All-Ireland champions Tyrone in a first-round qualifer at the Athletic Grounds before achieving redemption against Donegal. Their season came to an end in dramatic circumstances in the last eight, losing a penalty shoot-out to Galway in what was arguably the game of the championship.
