FORMER Armagh forward Eugene McVerry will return to club football in the Orchard County following his transfer back to his native club Mullaghbawn.

Mullaghbawn have returned to the top tier of Armagh club league football following their promotion from Division 1B last season.

Peter McDonnell’s men upset the odds in the opening round of the 2022 championship, defeating holders Clann Éireann, before losing out to Granemore in the quarter-final.

McVerry, who lined out for New York in the 2017 Connacht Championship, transfers from Na Fianna in Dublin.

The 2009 All-Ireland winning minor last played for Armagh in the 2016 when they were knocked out beaten in qualifiers by Laois.

He made 43 appearances for Armagh after making his debut in the first round of the McKenna Cup against Down in 2012.

Mullaghbawn take on last year’s Division 1B champions Ballymacnab in the opening round of the league, throwing in at the end of March.
