Armagh update ahead of Derry clash

By Niall McCoy

ARMAGH coach Jim McCorry has said that the Orchard county will be at almost full strength for Sunday’s Ulster clash with Derry at Celtic Park.

Niall Grimley’s knee issue is not enough to keep him out, Brendan Donaghy is back in contention while Andrew Murnin could even be set for a surprise squad place as Kieran McGeeney’s side travel to take on the Oakleafers.

Andy has been through a full recovery process and has started training, so hopefully we can see that this week coming on and starting to get him back in for some competitive football, which would be a big, big plus. A great footballer, loved by the fans and hated by the opposition.

Ethan should be back in this weekend. Brendan is available for this weekend as well.”

Midfielder Niall Grimley played the final two league games with heavy strapping on his left knee, but McCorry said that it was not a serious issue.

Niall got a bit of a knock and the strapping is just to give him that wee bit of support,” he said.

He went down at one in the Clare game and held the knee, but that was just from the impact of the ground. That’s just strapping from a precautionary point of view.”
