ARMAGH’S proposed new elite training facility will be located in Portadown.
As exclusively revealed by Gaelic Life last month, the Orchard county board was ready to submit planning permission for the new centre. The clubs endorsed the proposal last night and planning permission will be submitted in October.
The new facility will be based at the current St Malachy’s Hurling Club site on the Moy Road.
The £2.5 million investment will include three full-size floodlit grass pitches, a spectator stand, a ball wall and a gym with adjoining changing facilities.
If planning permission is approved, work is set to begin next spring with the works due to be fully completed in 2020.
