Antrim dominate Joe McDonagh Team of the Year

Seven Saffron start have been included in the 2022 Joe McDonagh Team of the Year, along with one Down player.

Antrim won the Joe McDonagh Cup after a dramatic decider against Kerry, and edged the Kingdom by one point in the end.

Goalkeeper Ryan Elliot claims the number one spot in the Team of the Year while three of the six defenders also come from Darren Gleeson’s side.

Joe Maskey, Gerard Walsh, also a winner in 2020, along with Eoghan Campbell claim spots in the defence.

Keelan Molloy holds a place in the middle of the field while up front sharpshooters Conal Cunning and Ciaran Clarke are named as the two corner forwards.

The pair proved to be the heroes in the final as the contributed 3-11 between them. Down’s Daithi Sands is also named at centre half forward.

Beaten finalists Kerry hold four spots on the team while Carlow (2) and Offaly (1) are also represented.
