You have to look back to 1994 for the Johnnies’ last appearance in the final. They came within two pucks of a ball of Cushendall in the group stages and should advance.

The game of the weekend in Antrim brings the last two beaten finalists with designs on going one step further. James McNaughton is now fully back on board and he’ll help Loughgiel through.

ANTRIM INTERMEDAITE HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND FIVE

GLENARIFFE V CREGGAN

Saturday, Glenariffe, 3pm

After a draw in the Bear Pit, Glenariffe remain unbeaten with two wins. Little separated them from Creggan in the league, but their consistency should see them victorious.

GLENRAVEL V SARSFIELDS

Saturday, Glenravel, 3pm

Glenravel had a fine win over All Saints in the football championship, but haven’t had the same spark with the wee ball. The Paddies to win on the road.

CUSHENDUN V GORT NA MONA

Saturday, Cushendun, 3pm

Cushendun lost all game by an average of 10 points in the league, but have began to find their feet and should inflict another defeat on the Gorts.

ST PAUL’S V CLOONEY GAELS

Saturday, St Paul’s, 3pm

The man from Clooney are tipped by many to take the title in Antrim. They continually manage to punch above their weight in both codes.

CLOUGHMILLS V BALLYMENA

Saturday, Cloughmills, 3pm

Cloughmills were within reach of winning Division 3A and have brought their league form into the business end. They should take a step into the last four.

DAVITT’S V ARMOY

Saturday, Davitt Park, 3pm

Davitt’s shipped four goals against Rasharkin in their last game, with Armoy having a win against Lamh Dearg. A tight call.
