John Martin believes that Kilkenny could be beaten in this weekend’s All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final.
In his column this weekend he reckons that Kilkenny are not as strong as in previous years, and that Tipperary have the players to hurt the team that have won the Liam MacCarthy trophy 36 times.
One of the main reasons he thinks this is the presence of Patrick ‘Bonnar’ Maher.
“Yes, he isn’t the most wristy hurler that Tipp as ever produced but he has the ability to out-Kilkenny Kilkenny.
“His ball-winning ability and work-rate are second to none and if his decision-making is as good as it was in the semi-final, his distribution will play a key role in a Tipp victory.”
