Steven Poacher thinks that too many coaches do too much work in pre season training.
He explained the main problems with the work that teams are doing.
“I feel that too much emphasis goes into pre-season training with club and county teams. There are a number of issues.
“The first is that the sessions tend to be too long, or the volume of the sessions are too great.
“Coaches will tend to cram in extra runs or games.
“Too much emphasis is placed on conditioning without the ball.
“The biggest problem of the lot, and it is an enormous problem, is the imbalance between training and games.”
In this week’s Gaelic Life, he explains what teams should be doing in the pre season.
