In his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, Steven Poacher highlights the good work that is being done by coaches at club level in Down.
But he reminds coaches that they can’t only take interest in their player’s basic skills.
“Another big problem, and one that the GAA needs to continue to address, is alcohol.
“Unfortunately it’s widely accessible and far too regularly used regardless of what parents want to believe.
“If we are going to keep our young people involved in the GAA, we as coaches have a huge responsibility and it goes beyond just organising and delivering a coaching session.”
