St Columbans enjoyed some great successes
In his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, Steven Poacher talks about his experience working with St Columbans.
His role has come to end, but he recalls what made his job so great.
“For me it wasn’t about finals or trophies or wins, it was about the coaching journey, the wonderful players and people you meet a long the way, the places we travelled too, both near and far, and all the fantastic and priceless memories we made.
“Trophies carry dust, but memories last forever and for me I was privileged, humbled and honoured to have travelled that journey with St Columban.
“You can talk about the inaugural winning team of ’59, the spirit of ’91 or the class of ’07 but it is every single Gael who walked through the doors of St Columban’s who will all live with the fantastic memories of a school that was a real driving force for GAA in Mourne forever and ever more and will be sadly missed.”
