Adaptability is one of the key personality traits that all good coaches need according to Steven Poacher.
In his column this week, he points out how the Bournemouth Premiership soccer manager Eddie Howe achieved incredible success, gaining promotion all the way to the top flight, which he did because he was so adaptable.
“Your ability to adapt, both on and off the training field, as a coach is absolutely critical. I think it’s trait that you gain from experience. I know in teaching you have to be very adaptable and it’s maybe no coincidence that a lot of senior counties are managed by school teachers and PE teachers in particular.”
In the current issue of Gaelic Life read Steven Poacher explain how county managers adapt, and some important advice he learnt from a US Navy Seal.
