Niall Morgan
In his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, Steven Poacher highlights the kickout strategy that is very difficult to defend against.
He says: “Both Niall Morgan and Rory Beggan are very quick at retrieving the ball and gtting it back into possession at speed. This was something that Stephen Cluxton worked very hard at in Dublin, taking the kick out time down from 18 seconds to eight seconds.
“It is an extremely hard kick out to defend against and takes a really switched on aand sharp forward line to stop it.
“Outside of a cyncial approach by either standing in front of the keeper or throwing extra balls on the field, there is now real way to counteract this and it tends to be the most favoured first appraoch by the top teams: Short and sharp kick outs.”
