Pauric Grimes believes that Gaelic footballers and hurlers should consider a Gymanastics session.
He stops short of suggesting that clubs purchase a pommel horse and leotards, but does say that there is much to be learned from the girls who can do triple somersaults and twists during their floor performance.
He said: “I’ve been a long-time advocate of marrying gymnastic training with strength work to get the most from what your body has to offer, but if you need more evidence of the athletic results possible from gymnastic training look no further than Simone Biles Gold Medal routine on the floor.
“You’ll be able to see first-hand both the explosive leg power and upper body strength she demonstrates from start to finish. She’d be a livewire stuck in at corner forward.”
