The Super Eights begin this weekend and for intercounty players that means the start of three intensive matches in a month.
With that in mind, Pauric Grimes decided to look at ways that players can deal with lots of games in a short space of time.
He gave four pieces of advice and one of them was recovery:
“Recovery equals gains.
“For me over-training is a myth.
“Under-recovery is very real. Muscle grows, repairs and gets stronger while it rests.
“Constantly pummelling it with tough session after tough session will cause it to adapt for sure, but it will also more than likely cause it to break down and induce injury.
“Include Deload and rest days within your training and allow the body to move forward in one piece.”
