Pauric Grimes believes that the priority for athletes at this stage of the year is to make sure that they are injury free.
There are many ways to do so, but he has his own preferred way.
“Priority number one at this time of the year is that you’re entering the season fresh and injury free.
“For some that means getting yourself enrolled in a yoga or pilates calass, then go down that route. For others a daily mobility routine could do the trick.
“Personally I’m a great believer of the mantra that building strength will prevent injuries.
“So instead of solely pouring your energy in to methods of injury preventions, think about being consistent with the application of your gym programme and by building stronger muscles the pay off is not only a more powerful athlete but one less likely to get injured.”
He goes on to give advice of how to organise that gym programme and how to set goals.
