Pauric Grimes said this week that sometimes it takes an embarrassment for a person to realise that they have to work harder.
He cites the example of Mattie Donnelly, who said that getting taken off against Kildare as the moment when he realised he had to work harder.
“I’m a firm believer that the biggest learning curves come off the back of our biggest failures.
“Mattie talks about how getting hauled off at half time of a national league game against Kildare was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
“He knew that if he didn’t change his approach to training, to eating, to the entire game that he wouldn’t progress.”
