KEVIN CASSIDY: Kerry v Donegal should have been televised

THE games keep coming and there is no sign of the entertainment slowing down any time soon.

Due to the Kerry v Donegal game being postponed, we had just one Division One game to look at last week.

Firstly, can I say that, in this day and age, we should be able to see all games live. I fully understand that TV schedules are made out well in advance but it would have been easy for the Kerry or Donegal County Boards to stream the game live.

That game, given all that is happening this season, with all the changes, is a game that everyone would have wanted to see but unfortunately, we didn’t have the opportunity.

On the game itself, Donegal will be delighted with the performance and in particular the two points. Kerry is always a different trip even from a logistical point of view so to have that game out of the way is massive for Donegal.

Donegal now sit on four points and given the fact that the championship clash with Derry is a week after the league final, you can be sure that Donegal do not want to be in the decider. Adding two more points from their remaining games will be the aim from here on in.

The league will start to take shape after this weekend’s fixtures as teams will have a better view of what is needed from their remaining games.

After last weekend’s sting, Kerry will be looking to bounce back with another home game against the Dubs.

Dublin are youthful at the minute which leans me towards tipping a home win for the Kingdom.

Derry welcome high-flying Galway to Celtic Park on Saturday evening. A bit like Kerry losing to Donegal, they will be still hurting from that last-gasp loss to the Kingdom two weeks ago.

I expect a bit of a kick back this weekend. Derry need the points more as they will be heading on the road in the league after this week, so, for them, these two points are important.

Galway are moving well at the minute, so it will be interesting to see how they fare up in Celtic Park.

Armagh travel to Ballybofey and this is one I am looking forward to.

I am covering the game for TG4, so it will give me the opportunity to get a good look at this year’s Armagh team.

A bit like Derry, they probably need the points more than Donegal do but I know Jim McGuinness won’t want ‘Geezer’ coming to Ballybofey to lay down a marker.

All of the games should be extremely competitive this week and especially with the Sunday fixture where Mayo and Tyrone need a win badly after last week’s displays.

MacHale park is also a difficult place to go, so what you could see this weekend is that home advantage plays a massive part in results.

This weekend, bearing all of that in mind, I’ll go with Donegal, Derry, Kerry and Mayo. Now let’s see who is going to upset the applecart.
