In his Gaelic Life column Kevin Cassidy lauds the departing Colm Cooper, describing him as the best ever.
Cassidy likens the Gooch to Floyd Mayweather, the boxer who described himself as ‘the best ever’.
Cassidy explains how that even as a young player Gooch was always calm.
“What I admired most about Colm was the fact that he never let aby of the pressure or hype get to him.
“He dealt with the public as calmly as he slotted away goals in the most heated of atmospheres.
“He made time for everyone and I’M sure he has inspried younger generations by being generous with his own time.”
In the column Cassidy goes on to tell a story about how Cooper visited him in Donegal, and how he treated the pupils at Cassidy’s school with such kindness.
