John Morrison believes that the ‘final frontier’ for the GAA is Sports Psychology.
In this week’s Gaelic Life he predicts that managers will start focusing on their players minds now that they have pushed the boundaries of physical fitness in the current game.
“Sports psychology has become the final frontier in sporting performance, especially at the elite level,” Morrison said.
“From the mid 1990s, we had a decade of fitness, followed by a decade of performance analysis and the next decade will be about maximising players’, coaches’ and the teams’ mindsets.
“We often hear now that at the top elite level it was their mental game that led to success. Clearing the head does clear the feet to play, and whenever a game is played by the body, it is the head that counts.”
