Managers must have fun with their players, but they must balance that with achieving results
In his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, John Morrison explains why a manager must balance his focus between results, and player well being.
He argues that the manager who focuses on one to the detriment of the other will not be successful.
Morrison says that one of the ways to maintain the balance is to provide the right sort of feedback
“A tactful manager delivers feedback that is accurate, objective, yet considerate and inspirational.
“They ensure their feedback mantra is ‘target the performance, never the person’.
“Balanced managers know how to take into account players feelings and viewpoints (opinions, ideas, suggestions) while delivering the message players need to hear in order to improve.”
