AS Davy Fitzgerald continues to be linked heavily with the vacant Wexford position, Gaelic Life columnist John Martin has said that characters like that can’t stay away from the game for too long.
Fitzgerald stepped down as Clare boss last month amidst reports that some of the panel preferred to see a change in management.

Martin said that a quick return to inter-county management would be good for hurling.
“By far the most column inch-generating, airtime-filling, social media-frenzying departure has been that of Davy Fitzgerald from his beloved Clare.
“The certainty is that he will be looking after a team – somewhere, at some level.”
