GAELIC Life hurling columnist John Martin has said that Galway’s transformation from skill to power was confirmed by Sunday’s All-Ireland final win over Waterford.
Assessing the game in today’s paper, as well as the upcoming Special Congress, Martin said that it was a job that had been years in the making.
“Galway have now completed that metamorphosis that probably started under John McIntyre which replaced the traditional wristy Galway hurler with strong physical players who play the direct brand of hurling associated with Kilkenny under Brian Cody. And while Kilkenny are in transition, they could become the standard bearers of that type of game.”
