FORMER Armagh defender Finnian Moriarty has said that GAA supporters have been complicit in the fall in standards of the modern game.
In a guest columnist, the Wolfe Tone man says that the reliance on August to save a Championship season demonstrates the huge issues that currently exist – and it’s time for change.
“We’ve been enabling them. We detest how things are it but we go along with it. If our team wins it’s grand, sure who cares? “A win’s a win”.
“Winnings what it’s all about in the end of the day isn’t it? Or is it? I think it’s getting to the point where we are starting to say enough is enough.
“Like most people I have my answers, my rule changes that would make it better, but sure the GAA won’t listen to me, just the same way they won’t listen to any of us. It doesn’t matter if you’re Jimmy McGuinness or Jimmy Soap. They hope that August will save them.”
