John Morrison – Good managers are humble

John Morrison, in his column in the current issue of Gaelic Life, celebrates four managers he knows personally who he believes possess the 11 most important attributes of a good coach.

The four men are Mickey Moran, Mickey Harte, Pete McGrath and Joe Kernan:

“Despite the strength of their persona, all four are ‘humble’. They’ll accept praise for their achievements but equally they are willing to accept crticism, to declare weakness, to ask for help and value others as much as themselves, in essence their humility is balanced.

“They are human, they care, are compassionate, are willing to forgive as well as show appreciation. They accept and promote that everyone can make mistakes which became opportunities for learning, rather than condemnation, ridicule and sanction.”
