Who will be next into the John Morrison Hall of Fame?
A moment that is always an undoubted highlight of the Gaelic Life Ulster Club All-Stars awards ceremony, it is known for generating one of the biggest reactions of the night, and this year’s event at the Hillgrove Hotel is set to be no different.
First introduced for the 2012 season, the award honours those who have made a significant impression on the Ulster Club scene.
A new face will be inducted in March’s awards ceremony and they’ll become the 12th person to pick up the trophy.
When it comes to club awards it should be no surprise that Crossmaglen were the first team onto the roll of honour as Paul Hearty & Oisin McConville became the first inductees in January 2013.
‘‘I’m very honoured to have been chosen to receive this accolate from Gaelic Life. I suppose I gives it added significance when it’s the first time it’s been awarded,’’ said McConville.

Following them into the Hall of Fame was Burren legend Ray Morgan, who brought All-Ireland glory to the St Mary’s club.
‘‘It’s good to get the recognition, but in recognising my achievements I think Gaelic Life is also recognising the teams I was associated with.’’
Other inductees in the past 10 years include Ballycastle’s Eddie Donnelly, former GAA President Sean McCague, Donaghmoyne’s Francie Coleman, Andy McCallin, Chris Brown & Larry Diamond.
In 2020 Trillick’s John Donnelly was the inductee to the newly titled John Morrison Hall of Fame and he noted how special it was that the award had been named in memory of John. ‘‘We all knew his one liners and the great character that he was, so I’m delighted to have won this award named after him.’’
Last year saw Clan na Gael’s Jimmy Smyth induced into the Hall of Fame. Friday March 10 will see a new inductee into the John Morrison Hall of Fame, their identity remains to be seen.
