Here’s our three nominations for Cavan club football’s Gaelic Life All-Star award.
Padraig Faulkner (Crosserlough)
Padraig Faulkner was an injury doubt for Kingscourt’s senior championship final drawn encounter against Crosserlough, but he was ruled fit to play and was outstanding throughout. The replay didn’t go according to plan for the team as a whole, but he was still excellent and scored three points. Has developed his game and scored three goals in the championship as well.
James Smith (Crosserlough)
Smith scored one of the best points you’ll ever see as Crosserlough got it right at the second time of asking against Kingscourt, catching the ball one-handed in the middle of the park before going on to hit an inspirational score. The talented young midfielder was named man of the match, but he was excellent throughout the campaign, scoring a total of 1-11.
David Shalvey (Crosserlough)
Shalvey lined out at corner-back but you wouldn’t know it if you glanced at Crosserlough’s scoresheets throughout their run to championship success. Loves to get forward and take a point, but he wouldn’t be able to do so if he didn’t have such a powerful engine. One of the stars of their first senior championship title in 48 years.
