2024 Men’s Football Manager of the Year Nominees

Below are the nominees for the 2024 Men’s Football Manager of the Year sponsored by K Magill Accountants. Find out more about this year’s shortlisted nominees below.

Enda McGinley and Stephen Quinn – Errigal Ciaran

The Errigal duo answered the call and took their native club on a magical journey all the way to Croke Park. There was the Tyrone minefield first but they built a team that never threw in the towel. Not ever. The All-Ireland final was the proof. Ruairi and Darragh Canavan were the key attacking axis. It was what McGinley and Quinn squeezed out of everyone else that made them a such a formidable team.

Jarlath Bell – Ballinderry

The Shamrocks were relegated from the senior ranks last season and Jarlath Bell stepped into the role. It was about making themselves difficult to beat and getting back to senior football. With that came momentum. Young players were blooded on the way to the Derry and Ulster titles. They were seconds away from an All-Ireland, only for a controversial penalty call. Bell was gracious in defeat. A touch of class.

Daniel McCauley – Naomh Pádraig Uisce Chaoin

This time last year, the club had never won a championship but McCauley had already the wheels in motion. They were making “baby steps” as he referred to it. Off the field, they had to deal with the passing of Evan Craig. McCauley handled the situation by treating the players like his own children. A quarter-final win and they didn’t look back. An historic Donegal title was backed up with success in Ulster. Like Errigal and Ballinderry, they came very close to an All-Ireland.

Voting opens at 10am on Thursday 13th February and will close at 10am on Monday 17th February. Votes do not determine the final winners but help create awareness of the nominee’s shortlisting. The winner of this category will be announced at our Gala Awards Night at the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan on Friday 7th March 2025.
