2024 Club of the Year nominees

Below are the nominees for the 2024 Club of the Year sponsored by Kingsbridge. Find out more about this year’s shortlisted nominees below.

Clann Éireann

2024 will live long in the memory of all involved with Lurgan club Clann Éireann, who ruled the roost in Armagh in both men’s and ladies football.

Their Senior ladies footballers have firmly established themselves as the dominant force in the province, retaining their Ulster title in style, while their male counterparts overcame their neighbours Clan na Gael in the Armagh SHC final.

There was another memorable double at minor level, where they reigned supreme in both codes, while their senior ladies team were crowned All-Ireland Senior Club Sevens champions, another tremendous achievement.

It’s no surprise given the talent at their disposal that there’s a strong Clann Éireann theme at intercounty level and Barry McCambridge, Conor Turbitt and Tiernan Kelly were leading figures on Armagh’s second ever All-Ireland SFC title, while Clodagh McCambridge captained the Armagh ladies to Division One and Ulster Championship honours.

Bredagh

We all know that South Belfast-based Bredagh are thriving but even by their standards 2024 was a truly remarkable season across the codes.

Their Senior ladies team won their seventh consecutive Down title, while their hurlers and camogs both won the Down Intermediate titles.

Then there’s their stunning success at underage level. Their hurlers came out on top of the Down Minor Championship, also winning the U16 shield, while their U14 ladies bagged a memorable league and championship double.

They also had incredible success on the Féile front, culminating in claiming the U15 Division One Shield at the National Finals in Mayo.

There was further success in various competitions across the codes at youth level in a club which continues to go from strength-to-strength.

O’Donovan Rossa, Magherafelt

Derry club Magherafelt can reflect with pride on their many accomplishments in the 2024 season.

They have emerged as the current standard-bearers in Derry underage football and have certainly made a mighty impression further afield at both U16 and Minor level.

They produced a masterclass to win the Paul McGirr Ulster Club U16 football title, fending off a comeback from defending champions Dromintee, while a superbly talented minor boys team reached the final of the Ulster Championship at St Paul’s.

With that underage success in mind, it’s no surprise that they had a big representation on the Derry team that retained their All-Ireland minor title.

They’re also formidable on the ladies front, claiming Intermediate Championship honours with an extra-time victory over Ballymaguigan while their minors reigned supreme in their championship.

They’re a superbly run club and in 2024 they fielded three U14 boys football teams in 2024 for the first time in its history.

Voting opens at 10am on Thursday 20th February and will close at 10am on Monday 24th February. Votes do not determine the final winners but help create awareness of the nominee’s shortlisting. The winner of this category will be announced at our Gala Awards Night at the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan on Friday 7th March 2025.
