Mixed day for Ulster teams in the All-Ireland Camogie Championships

IT as a huge weekend for Antrim who began their Senior Championship campaign with a bang.

They had a perfect start to their Senior Championship campaign wuth a 4-18 to 1-10 win over Offaly in Birr.

The Saffrons hit goals from Aine McGill (2), Roisin McCormack and Caitrin Dobbin to get their season off to a flyer ahead of next weekend’s trip to Down.

Down opened their start to the senior grade with a 1-23 to 1-10 defeat to 2020 champions Kilkenny in Liatroim.

The visitors were 1-11 to 0-8 ahead at the break with Anna Rogan hitting Down’s goal on the restart, but Kilkenny were able to keep the scoreboard ticking over for victory.

There were wins for Armagh and Antrim’s second team in the All-Ireland Premier Junior Championship on Saturday.

Armagh were 6-21 to 0-6 winners in Limerick with goals from Ciara Donnelly (3), Jennifer Curry (2) and Rachel Merry helping put the home team’s second team to the sword in the Premier Junior Championship.

Antrim seconds also victorious on the road with a 3-11 to 0-8 win in Roscommon, with Dervla Cosgrove hitting all three goals.

Armagh host Down in Round Two of the Premier Junior next weekend.
